Heaps of plans shaping up for the New Year, including Splore, Performance Arcade, and a one-off event in Fringe. Over the last weekend we had our hui and dream time, ate nice food and played celebrity. It was a time to examine our core values and purpose, and we want to put the results of that out there soon.
Scratch Nights are carrying on and morphing from being a testing ground for Binge to more of a meeting place for a range of artists who want to try something new. We're making them open to anyone with a performance experiment to share. Huge thanks to Leda Farrow who made us the Koha jar to end all Koha jars, in the form of a carnivorous plant. Cheers to Creative Communities for the support through funding, and BATS for the ongoing partnership.
So far they have included (reductive taglines my own):
The Cycle Players guiding us through the last judgement, Toucan Stubbs with a sonic journey through an entire day, Owen Baxendale bringing up some uncomfortable material, Thomas Lahood in a delicate situation and oven fries, and Theo Taylor with the true sound of heartbreak. Binge has tried a whole range of things, including performing scenes off a menu and a birthday quiz night. Thanks to everyone who came along.
Scratch Nights are on the first Weds of every month, as soon as the last show in the theatre is over. We've got a really exciting group of people lined up for December 4th, who we'll post about soon. We won't be doing one on New Years day though, but you can do your own wherever you are. If you've got an experiment and want a shot, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
As always, the feedback portal is open
