2013 is looking to be a full year for us! In Wellington`s Fringe 2013, we`re doing two new two-handers (that`s one octopus total). They are called Beep Test* and For Your Future Guidance. There will also be an outdoor, interactive performance involving whales, which we need you to be a part of.
Beep Test* is a performance of gladiatorial proportions in which the performers, Isobel Mackinnon and Simon Haren, fight for their place on the stage by complying with the horrific, robotic demands of the beep test. Channeling a time in their secondary school education when the zeitgeist was 'give it a go', the actors will earn the chance to demonstrate their special talents, kept until now between them and their bathroom mirror, in the hope of achieving a moment of glory. Beep Test is a show in which dreams and school mottos may come true: 'Per Angusta, Ad Augusta', -Through difficulties to greatness.' Help is on the horizon for citizens anxious about what the future holds. For Your Future Guidance is an interactive performance in the style of a self-help seminar aimed at giving the participants the skills and knowledge to survive the coming decades. The seminar will help people adjust to their imminent new reality and give them a chance to practice coping mechanisms. Created by Joel Baxendale and Ralph Upton. For Your Future Guidance is also travelling to Auckland Fringe and Dunedin Fringe (our first trip there since 2009!) We're really excited about the Whales. Just turn up, and lend a hand, it might make all the difference. Led by Fiona McNamara, Claire O'Loughlin and Rachel Baker. We're also coming back to rework and amp up This Rugged Beauty in partnership with Downstage. We performed it in Fringe 2011, we've been wanting to finish it for ages.
