Last weekend we had a big hui where we took stock of where we've been and where we're going, what we do and how we operate. We got a little dreamy but the earthquake shook us back to reality, which is why we decided we need another even bigger hui in August. Because our dreams are so potentially earthquake inducing we're taking this next one to Hawkes Bay (where they have no history of quakes...)
So stay tuned for more developments. In the meantime Scratch Nights continue, fortnightly on Wednesdays at the Understudy at Bats. So far we've done 6 of these short turnaround performances, and found some games and sketches that have been huge successes, some that have potential, and some that have been utter failures (and more's the pleasure for it). The next one is on the 31st and we'll be doing a durational interactive performance based around the postal service. Send a letter to a friend, like old times. And, on the topic of Bats, Ralph and Claire have been directing the Young and Hungry play, Atlas/Mountains/Dead Butterflies, by Joseph Harper, which Izzy is performing in. Simon was recently performing there in Game of Things with Playshop, and on an un-Bats-related note, he and Fi conducted a workshop at the JustSpeak camp for crimincal justice reform. We get around.
